Now that we’re heading into autumn I’m fully embracing the fact that I can get away with a darker lip colour and not attract too many unwanted stares from passersby. I must acknowledge the fact that I’ve always been quite a neutral lover when it comes to lipsticks as I’m rather intimidated by bolder colours, however since I’ve being blogging I have found that I’ve become more experimental in what I wear. Whilst wondering what lip colour I could buy to help me delve into autumn I suddenly remembered that I had the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in the shade ‘Crush’ hiding in my make up stash, this quickly resulted in me popping it on to see just how suitable it was.
|Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain ‘Crush’ £7.99|
These balm stains come in seven shades which are widely available at Boots and Superdrug for £7.99, I’d like to think they’re available abroad too. I’m rather late in writing about these on my blog as I’ve had them quite a while now and whilst I really like them they’ve somehow managed to be missed off here; that is until today.
These balm stains are in a pencil form which requires no sharpening as they wind up from the bottom. I personally love this as it is really useful and so much easier to use, to be honest I think I prefer the pencil type form of these to normal lipstick bullets in general as I find using them easier as I have better control. Even though this format has been overdone now by numerous brands I do always find myself looking at the latest versions, take for instance the new Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayons.
I find that as a stain that these do last pretty well on my lips, a good few hours overall I would say which isn’t too bad at all. I do own a couple of the other shades with these being honey, romantic and rendezvous where I would say that crush is the most durable in terms of longevity however this is most likely because it is a darker shade. If you’re on the hunt for something more natural but that has a nice hint of colour I would highly recommend the shade honey as it is a beautiful warm pink.
These to me have a peppermint scent to them which I’ve only noticed upon application as sadly it tends to fade pretty quickly, this is a shame as I do like that type of scent as it is quite refreshing. I’ve noticed that with the darker shade crush it can highlight drier areas ever so slightly although this can be easily rectified by using a lip scrub or a bit of balm beforehand. These can be slightly drying on a whole in my opinion therefore I always pop on lip balm before I use them, they’re also not that glossy therefore if you’re looking for something that way inclined I probably wouldn’t choose these.
I must admit I can live with that slight issue of them being a bit drying as I really like using them, they’re definitely one of my most reached for products in general therefore I can’t wait to start wearing crush more often now that I’ve rediscovered it.
Have you picked out any darker shades for autumn? If so please let me know what you’re using as I have this one berry shade to my name.
