Lulu Guinness For Birchbox

I put together this post tonight I can’t help feel a bit of a hypocrite to be
honest as for a while now I have pretty much snubbed beauty boxes. I’ve only
ever tried one company in the past and after two boxes left me feeling rather
unhappy I promptly unsubscribed and vowed I would never try one again. That was
until I heard about the March edition of Birchbox; a special edition featuring
UK fashion designer Lulu Guinness to produce a one off box that helps to
celebrate the 25th anniversary of the brand.

Visually the box is really nice, it’s
clear to see the Lulu Guinness influence from the start what with the black and
white stripes covering the box. In fact I have to say the box in general in
terms of packaging is really nice, it left me quite impressed compared to my
previous experience. Inside the box the products are all found inside a little
cotton bag which is a nice little touch; overall the presentation certainly
receives a thumbs up from me.

The contents of this box left me quite
pleased I have to say which I do think is quite the statement for me to make as
I’ve been quite critical of beauty boxes in the past. Alongside a little
magazine of ‘life lessons’ from Lulu which is actually quite a nice little read
there are also a few nice products to be found.  In my box I received a
sample of the Benefit Stay Don’t Stray which is a new release I believe from
Benefit. I’m looking forward to trying this eye shadow primer out as my current
one has gone walk about. With the full price retailing at £20.50 this is a
great way to try this product without purchasing it at full price on a whim. There
is also a sample of the Dr Brandt Pores No More which is actually quite
expensive for the full price product, retailing at £39 I’m quite curious to see
how this works for me.

hand cream from Molton Brown is actually quite nice however this sample I’m
afraid won’t last me very long. At £10 for the full size I’m curious to see
what it is like, I do wonder if it will be able to replace my beloved
L’Occitane. The fact that beauty boxes often contain samples of perfumes does
somewhat irritate me as they can be easily obtained in Boots however the
English Laundry Signature For Her Eau de Parfum is actually quite nice so I
guess I can let this one slide.

but not least my two favourite things from the box have to be the Korres Citrus
Body Milk and the stick of rock. As a huge fan of citrus scents and indeed
Korres I’m quite confident that I will really
enjoy using this particular product. As for the stick of rock what can I
say, my sweet tooth is calling.

I’m relatively happy with this box which is ultimately what I look for with
something like this. In all honesty I wouldn’t subscribe to something such as
this on a monthly basis as I would prefer to wait to see what products were
being sent out so that I could make a decision as to whether to order a one off
box here and there throughout the year.

If you’re interested in this particular box I’m able to refer a friend via this link. If you decide to follow that link and subscribe both you and I are credited with 50 points which is equivalent to £5 to spend at the Birchbox store.
