Face masks are one of my favourite products to use when it comes to my skincare routine. I find that by using a facial mask there are often instant results to be seen there and then which pleases me to no end. My skin type is generally combination/oily with a few dehydrated areas around my eyes therefore I’ve a few areas that require particular attention from different types of facial masks. Luckily the face mask market is huge so there is quite a variety of choice across a wide range of budgets for you and all your skin needs.
Roughly twice a week I like to use a clay mask to help clear my skin of any congestion which I find tends to be a little worse in the summer, particularly around my nose and chin area. My favourite clay mask to date has been the Super Facialist Tea Flower Deep Clean Pore Purifying Clay Mask which I have mentioned on here on more than one occasion. Due to the fact that my local Boots has stopped selling this range which has resulted in it being a little harder to obtain I decided to pick up the Quick Fix Facials Purifying Charcoal Mask in order to see what it was like. Both of these brands are quite affordable however if I had to pick one I would definitely once again choose the Super Facialist Clay Mask because I do find that this provides a deeper clean whereas the Quick Fix Facial mask whilst being quite nice leaves my skin a little red and not as clear.
In the middle I have a mask that helps to purify the skin whilst hydrating too. This arrives in the form of the much hyped about Antpiodes Manuka Honey Mask which in my opinion is slightly overrated. By all means this is a beautiful mask which certainly achieves what it claims to however I can’t help feel as though I was waiting to be blown away, of which if I’m truthful I can’t say that I was. My skin once I have used this feels incredibly soft and nourished so it certainly receives some brownie points there, it also I’d like to add smells rather lovely. Personally though when it comes to tackling blemishes I haven’t seen much of an improvement, therefore this isn’t the first thing I reach for when my skin has a blip.
Skipping straight to focusing on hydration one of my favourite masks so far is once again from Super Facialist. The Rose Hydrate Intense Moisture Mask has a soft rose fragrance which I find it to be quite light and not too overpowering for my own personal taste. My favourite time to use this mask is straight after I have used a clay mask as whilst the clay masks in my possession are rather good when it comes to not stripping the skin of moisture I do find that using a hydrating mask really does help to improve the condition of mu skin as opposed to skipping straight to moisturiser; my skin looks and feels even better when I do this.
The last type of face mask that I like to use is an exfoliating mask of which to date I haven’t yet had much experience with. The REN Glycolatic Radiance Renewal Mask had its moment a while ago now within the beauty community which I’ll admit to falling for and found myself parting with the best part of £30 in Space NK. Whilst I do like this mask I once again can’t help feel like I was expecting more from it, it sure smells nice and works OK however for how expensive it was and from the amount of coverage it received this time I really did want to be blown away. Overall I found this particular product from REN to fall a little flat compared to some of the other products I have tried from the brand. At first I really liked it however I’m now quite convinced that I was fooling myself into thinking it was working and trying to make myself think that it was money well spent, it wasn’t.
What are your favourite facial masks?
