Now if ever there has been a month that has passed in the blink of an eye then it would most certainly be this one. What with eight exams to revise for, work, my blog and a few beauty events squeezed in for good measure it is safe to say that I’m exhausted. Luckily I’ve not long to go now until the exams come to an end, whether I have passed is another question entirely but for now all I can say is that I cannot wait until the 15th June.
There have been quite a lot of new products to me this month when it comes to beauty; however I haven’t had much chance to test out most of them due to one thing and another. Despite this though there have been a few things which have slipped into my make up and skincare routine that I have not stop using since I first got them.
Starting off with skincare I was recently sent out the La Roche-Posay Make Up Remover Micellar Water Gel* which may sound like an odd concept yet it is really just a twist to our favourite micellar waters. This is essentially gel based micellar water which is simply applied to a damp face in order to help remove your make up. I have found this to be really quite good for me in terms of removing my base make up and even found it to be really good for removing my eye make up too which is notorious for being that little more stubborn. I was unsure at first if I would like this around the eye area as I only ever used cotton pads and micellar water however it really did surprise me. This is something that I would be happy to use instead of micellar water because for me it felt just as comfortable to use; it did not sting at all and had the same results. I also like the fact that I don’t have to use cotton pads with this which means I’m not having to bin loads of them each week; I’d love to not use them at all as I do think they create a lot of waste over time.
I’ve also being trying to ensure I start to use up my fragrances as I’m aware that I have had a few for a little while now. Glorious Gardenia by Gucci was a fragrance I had off my Dad a few years ago now where to this day I still adore it. Moving onto make up, this month I have continued to enjoy using the Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in the shade ‘Nude Mauve’. This is a product that has re-affirmed to me that the high street can produce some really incredible products. It goes without saying that this is a product that I will repurchase as soon as the need arises as it creates the most gorgeous flush to the skin; in fact I love it so much that I haven’t even picked up any of my NARS blushes since I got it.
The Bourjois Rouge Edition Aqua Laques have seemed to have a bit of a mixed rate of reviews as of late yet I have to say I have really liked them so far. Having said that I do only own one of the shades therefore I can only speak for ‘Rose on the Rocks’ which is a soft mauve toned pink in my eyes which really adds a beautiful hint of rose to the lips. Whilst they’re not the most long lasting lip product I have tried they are one of the most comfortable which for me is something I’d rather have over longevity.
Finally my last favourite comes in the form of the By Terry Ombre Blackstar in the shade ‘Bronze Moon’. Without a doubt this has to be one of the most, if not the most gorgeous bronze eye shadow shade I have ever used which is why I’m featuring it here today, however I do find myself slightly torn over this product in general. My reason for the slight apprehension comes down to the price because these are not budget friendly in the slightest. When I ordered this a few weeks back there happened to be a Groupon voucher for Feel Unique at the time which is why I decided to get it, otherwise I’d still be sat here wondering what they were like. Whilst I absolutely adore the texture of this as well as the colour I have sadly found myself slightly disappointed in the fact that after a few hours it does start to crease a little. Of course that factor is a more than disappointing when you consider the price of the product although I can’t deny that every time I use it the shade and texture of it wins me over every single time.
I know that there was a dupe floating around of this by No7 which of course I had to try for myself. Whilst I don’t think I have the exact dupe shade for Bronze Moon I do happen to have one of the others and can honestly say that the texture is not at all similar, the No7 one in my experience drags on the eye lid and has much poorer pay off in terms of pigmentation; for the record I have ‘Cool Mink’ which is pretty in its own right however I wouldn’t be inclined to buy another.
