If ever there was a post which was a few weeks too late than it is this one, however, hear me out. Despite the cold weather that has hit us all of a sudden (I had ice on my car this morning), we have had a few nice weekends recently. This leads me nicely into my recent trip away to Wales a few weeks ago. We had a little road trip, through the Welsh Mountains and out to the other side to the coast. I thought that this would be the perfect time to tie this in with a few products that I was kindly sent by the Nivea team as part of their Perfect Days of Summer campaign, as despite it being a little windy by the coast, it was a lovely little trip to the seaside.
Nivea is of course as well-known household brand. Whenever I think of it I immediately think of the classic Nivea Creme in the little blue tin which has over time been re-vamped on more than one occasion. There are a number of products which I love using from the brand and I always opt for Nivea when it comes to buying sun tan lotion for the summer, it is a bit of a tradition. This brings me nicely onto the first product that Nivea kindly sent to me, that being the Nivea Sunshine Love Shower Gel* which smells just like their classic sun tan lotion. I really like this actually, it isn’t as strong as their sun tan lotion in terms of the scent, however it definitely has that hint of summer associated with it when you’re using it. It is really nice, and it lathers up great too, although, in my experience all Nivea Shower Gels are really nice, especially the Shower Creme Gels. It is the perfect companion to pack away in your suitcase if you’re heading off on a last minute holiday this year.
As I mentioned above, Nivea is quite a traditional brand in my home, whereby to this day I still remember one of my very first lip balms that I used to carry around with me in my school bag. It was of course the Nivea Soft Rose Lip Balm* which still smells like it used to, even the packaging is pretty similar to how it used to be. It was somewhat of a nostalgic choice to opt for this as I have fond memories of it, the smell brings back memories of school days and I am quite a sentimental old fool at times. Nevertheless, it was very handy to have a lip balm by the coast as the sea air can easily dry out lips making them chapped. This adds moisture and curbs any dryness, all whilst adding a soft hint of pink to the lips. To date and indeed forever more, this will remain to be one of my favourite products from Nivea.
The final product I have to share with you today is one of the more recent launches from Nivea. It is the Urban Skin Defence SPF20 Day Cream* which is one of several products within their Urban Skin range. As you can see, it contains SPF which is not only essential in the summer, but all year round if you are serious about looking after your skin. I must admit, I easily forget to add an SPF into my routine, therefore if it comes readily in a product such as this it is so much easier to ensure that your skin is adequately protected. The day cream also contains hyaluronic acid and anti-oxidants to help with moisture in the skin and pollution from city life; it is also green which makes it somewhat more unique! The only thing I would say about this is that if you are wearing make up then I can find that it can cause the make up/moisturiser itself to bobble up on the skin, I am sure you all know what I am talking about. I would definitely opt for this during summer on no make up days, or, when on holiday for times when sitting by the poolside is all that is on the agenda. It is a shame in my opinion as I do like the product in itself, I just wish it worked better under makeup as despite my skin being oily/combination and never in the past agreeing too much with Nivea skincare for the face, I can honestly say that this has been fine barring that one point on the makeup front. I would be interested to hear if you have tried this product in particular and how you have found it.
My trip away consisted of exploring and taking lots of photos, some rather wind swept photos at that! We also had fish and chips on the sea front which of course is somewhat of a must when by the coast, although the pesky seagulls (I love them really) were watching us like hawks as we ate! We also lost a number of 2p’s in the 2p machines in the arcade!
Have you tried any of the above featured products from Nivea? What would you recommend from the brand?
