A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending at very last minute the launch of the Alice Boutique collection. If like me at the time you have never heard of the Alice Boutique then you’re in for a little treat as it boasts an array of china tea sets, dinnerware, stationary and interior decorations all based around the Lewis Carroll classic Alice in Wonderland. Back when I was in primary school our traditional year 6 play was actually Alice in Wonderland so this instantly brought back so many memories for me. Here’s a random fact for you whilst on the topic of the school play, I played the Knave who stole the tarts where I have to say that whilst on trial I held my own very, very well!
Slipping down the rabbit hole into the launch of the new collection was exciting as I didn’t know what to expect. As someone who is fascinated by design and illustrations anyway this was something that I was extremely interested in seeing. Tracie Bedwood, the founder of the Alice Boutique designs the majority of the range herself as well as handpicking designers to be featured. Inspired by the original illustrations by John Tennial the Alice Boutique range consists of tea cups, saucers, plates, tea posts, stationary and home interiors which feature characters such as Alice herself, the Mad Hatter, Tweddledee and Tweedledum and of course the White Rabbit.
There’s also a variety of stationary on offer ranging from gift tags, cards, notebooks and wrapping paper of which I think the gift tags have to be my favourite, although I don’t think I can bring myself to use them actually as they are so unique and are pieces of art in themselves. Aside from stationary there is also a range of interior items such as pillows and wall art which would make for interesting pieces for your home, I particularly like the pillows and can envisage these upon an old antique wooden chair; I think they would look great!
The above fine bone china Alice in Wonderland Tea Party Set is probably my favourite from the whole collection as I really like the vibrant colours used, especially on the Queen of Hearts herself and the roses around the outside. There is however the Monochrome Alice set which is also extremely beautiful, it is in my opinion more reserved yet it is in no way less elegant therefore there’s a bit of flexibility there when choosing what would suit your preferences more. Overall it is such a beautiful collection and is one that I wouldn’t mind selecting a few pieces from myself when I get my own place.
My favourite item would have to be the Alice in Wonderland Tea Cup Candle as I adore my candles anyway and think that it truly looks fantastic. Clearly once it has been used you then have your very own tea cup and saucer too making it an even more worthwhile purchase. I really do think that this item in particular would be the perfect introduction to the Alice Boutique range, so much so that I may just have to order one for myself.
