AD/Gifted (This post contains products which have been gifted to me for consideration on a gifting basis only, all thoughts are my own).
Storm Ciara has well and truly hit as I sit here typing on this rather blustery, cold Sunday morning. It got me thinking, this would be the prime time to share with you some of the recent products that the team at Dermalogica sent me before Christmas as part of their winter skin campaign. I never rush into using skincare products as soon as they land on my doorstep. I try to take my time and consider what I am using at the time and where, if possible, a new product can enter my routine. Out of all of those featured here today, I am only using a select few currently as I am also on a huge mission of using up a few older things before I move onto newer products, by ‘newer’ I mean sell-by dates, not recent launches as I have quite a backlog of skincare to get through.
That being said, I will and do make room for products which catch my eye and of course, Dermalogica does just that. Within the winter skincare kit, Dermalogica sent me there was an array of products ranging from cleansing balms, creamy cleansers, moisturisers, essences, skin boosters and of course the latest lip treatment which I am enjoying immensely.
So, without further ado, let me share with you the kit along with my thoughts on the products that I am currently putting to the test.

I realised that after I took the photographs that there is a somewhat of a step by step guide to using the products, however, unfortunately, my images do not reflect that so they are somewhat out of sync but I am sure you get the gist.
The first step within this routine would, of course, be the cleansers. I have a choice out of two but in fact, I am enjoying using the two together. Firstly I use the Dermalogica Preclease Balm* which, if you have read any previous posts on Dermalogica you will know that I am a big fan of the Precleanse Cleansing Oil*. The balm smells the same as the oil which is a big plus as I really do like the smell of that product. It’s a thick balm, incredibly smooth and lightweight on the skin which emulsifies into oil when contact is made with water. This product removes my makeup beautifully and in truth, I probably prefer this more than the cleansing oil as I find it a bit more luxurious and therapeutic. All in all, both do an amazing job at removing that first layer of daily makeup and pollution.
The second cleanser is the cleanser that I follow up with after the balm when doing a second cleanse. That cleanser is the Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Cleanser* which is a creamy cleanser that again is lightweight yet aims to nourish dry skin without stripping it of its natural oils and moisture. Of course, during the colder months, our skin suffers a lot more from the harsh elements as we are constantly experiencing fluctuations in heat. It is cold outside but warm inside, central heating also plays a huge part as this can make the air very dry. Therefore, ensuring that we have nourishing skincare products within our skincare routine to target these particular issues in the colder months is important. They allow us to protect our skin in the best way possible and to prevent dryness and those flaky noses that we all come to somewhat loathe; especially when it comes to wearing foundation.

The second step after cleansing is to use a toner, I use these all of the times in one way or another. I often use an acid toner and then a mist, therefore at present, this is what I am continuing to use. The offering from Dermalogica is the Dermalogica Redness Relief Essence* which I understand to be a bit like a serum due to its concentration. This aims to relieve the skin from redness, dehydration and discomfort. I am looking forward to testing this out and will report back in due course. Sticking with one of the other products I haven’t yet put to the test, we have the Dermalogica Barrier Defense Booster* which intrigues me quite a bit, In fact, I now question why I didn’t open this right away. This is a concentrated oil booster which will hopefully soothe, nourish and moisturise the skin with the ultimate goal being to restore balance to sensitive skin. Now, I personally do not class myself as having particularly sensitive skin, although I am finding that as I get older my skin seems to be a bit more temperamental; I am keeping an eye on this to see what causes issues when they materialise. In the meantime, I am extremely tempted to open this up now and give it a whirl, tonight will be the night.
The next step is to use the Dermalogica Nightly Lip Treatment* which is the first product I opened when I received this package. I have always suffered from dry lips and I have come to the conclusion that they will never really go away. Therefore, whilst I accept this, I am always looking for something which will improve things in that area. You can, of course, imagine how excited I was about this. The Nightly Lip Treatment is the latest launch from Dermalogica and you would be forgiven for thinking that this is just for the lips. It wasn’t until I read more about it that I soon discovered it was for the whole mouth area, this includes the skin around your lips. This lip treatment helps with preventing the ageing of the lip and perioral area helping to smooth the appearance of laugh and feather lines whilst you sleep. I am reserving judgement on that at present, but what I can tell you is that it has really helped with how dry my lips look and feel, I wake up with much healthier, bouncy looking lips which is always a bonus. In terms of the packaging, it has a metal applicator which is nice and cooling but to be honest I overlook that for the most part as I would just apply it with my hands or rub it in afterwards anyway.

Moving onto the final few steps, there is the Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Balance* moisturiser which is full of antioxidants which deliver nourishment ten layers deep into the skin; that sounds pretty impressive to me. At present, I haven’t used this as I have only recently finished the Dermalogica Smoothing Cream* which I absolutely adored. There is a new place for this in my routine I feel and I can see this being opened up very soon.
The last step (which you wouldn’t use after the above) is a weekly treatment. I would use this after I had cleansed but before I did anything else. At present, I haven’t tried the Dermalogica Rapid Reveal Peel* as I want to read up on it a bit further before I embark on the process. Essentially this is an at-home peel kit which offers Dermalogica’s strongest exfoliant. It contains a combination of AHA’s, lactic acid and fermented plant enzymes in order to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, by removing dead skin cells, helping to reveal firmer and brighter looking skin. Once applied you leave it on between 3-7 minutes to work its magic. You can opt to use three tubes over three days for a quick fix or for new users wanting to try what is called the kick start phase or you can use one once a week.
All in all, I am really enjoying Dermalogica Skincare so far. I haven’t yet tried everything as it just isn’t possible to do so, I like to try things properly and not rush into it. I also would like to say that it has been a pleasure to be able to try out this wonderful brand and I am looking forward to putting the rest of the products to the test over the coming months. As some of you may know, I am part of the #SkinFluencer team at Dermalogica and I am continuing to enjoy the experience. I have discovered some truly wonderful products that I know I will purchase and recommend to others in the future.
Have you tried anything from Dermalogica?
