The Glossybox March Edit arrived a couple of weeks ago and I must admit, I had been meaning to share with you my thoughts on it slightly earlier than this, given that the photos have been ready over a week. I felt a little unenthusiastic about this box in truth, perhaps it has something to do with everything that is going on at the minute both globally and personally or perhaps I just simply wasn’t that wowed by it. Don’t get me wrong, it has some great products in there, they just don’t all work for me and that’s fine; it was bound to happen at some point.
This month’s Edit is known as ‘All Eyes On Me” and it is all about creating a show-stopping look! All in all, I guess this has been achieved quite well due to the nature of the products chosen. As I said, two of them weren’t for me for reasons I will explain below so half of the box will go into a giveaway, that being said, I have loved my previous boxes so I will stay as a subscriber for now.
The first product inside this months box was the Eyeko Black Magic Mascara, this is a deluxe mini at 4ml and is worth £10. I am almost certain that I have used one of these mascaras before, however, if I have I cannot recall what it was like. I have a few mascaras now so I need to perhaps bin my current one (open way longer than three months) and open something new.
The second item was the Ciate Stamp and Drag Liner Duo which is an interesting product and one which I am curious to try. This is full size and retails at £15. This is a double-ended liner with a traditional liner brush on one end and then a stamp on the other. The stamp has a winged tip shape to it, with the aim of this being to help you create that perfect feline flick. What I can tell you is that this is very black and seems to be well pigmented too, although I would have expected nothing less from Ciate as they do have some lovely products. Whether the stamp works in practice, I do not know, however, I will be sitting there with a mirror soon perfecting the art I am sure.
From Cetraben we have the Daily Cleansing Cream which is full size and retails at £7.99. I must admit, this is a completely new brand to me but having read about it I am looking forward to using it. From the looks of it, this product is going to be a no fills, fuss-free cleanser (although I understand it can be used as a moisturiser too). This sounds like it will be quite gentle on the skin, as it is primarily aimed at those with dry or eczema-prone skin. It is worth looking into this brand if you fall into one of those categories, just in case, you, like me have not heard of them before.
The two products which are not for me personally are from Sleek and MCoBeauty. Firstly, the Sleek Highlighter Palette in Copperplate is gorgeous, it truly is. My issue is, I know deep down that I will not make use of the whole palette, I will only use one shade so it seems a shame to keep it. It could go to a better home so I am very tempted to put this into a giveaway. These palettes really are very nice, I used to have one a few years ago (the lighter palette) and I loved it. They have a very intense pay off so if you are looking for something subtle then these won’t be for you.
The same goes for the lipstick, visually it is beautiful, although again I know I will not wear this shade. I have seen swatches online and people wearing it and it is a bit too pink for me. Therefore, I haven’t swatched this product, nor have I tried it so, expect to see this in an upcoming giveaway too!
So, it is a bit of a mixed bag but it is no real criticism of Glossybox itself, there were just two products which won’t work for and three that should be fine. I liked it but didn’t love it and that is purely down to personal preference.
