Beauty Favourites 2021 – AD/PR Product (This post contains products that have been sent to me for consideration as a PR sample only, all thoughts are my own).
Well, February is just over the horizon and I am finally here sharing with you my beauty favourites of 2021. What a year that was. In truth, it was a really rubbish year for me with more lows than highs but 2022 hopefully should be a much better year, fingers are crossed.
When it comes to beauty, I didn’t explore many new products in truth. I stuck to what I knew and dabbled in a few new things here and there. In fact, since starting this blog almost ten years ago I probably spent the least amount on beauty products last year than I ever have. I made up for it in books though. Heading back to beauty, read on to discover my favourites from the last 365 days.
First up, the Antipodes Culture Probiotic Night Recovery Water Cream* was my immediate first choice when it came to putting this post together. This product landed on my doorstep a little while ago now. and I have loved using it ever since. It is cooling on the skin and hydrating, It has a real plumping effect and visibly boosts my skin, it looks youthful and hydrated and just overall healthy. I wrote a little bit more about this particular product in this post here. This is not a heavy nighttime moisturiser at all, although I don’t really layer my skincare up of an evening as I don’t feel the need to. I simply use this and eye cream, when I use retinol (about four times a week) I put this on over the top after an hour or so. I wake up to super soft and hydrated skin.
What has come as a surprise to me is the fact that I have never shared on here my thoughts on the Deviant Skincare Blue Tansy Cleansing Balm. How? I do not know. I even have the pictures taken all ready to go, Anyhow, this product is one of my stand out favourites from 2021. I picked this up at the beginning of the year but didn’t open it until around August time. I had been saving it for special occasions but after the first 6 months or so of the year, I thought sod it and opened it. It is joyful. I adore the scent, the texture and the results. It removes makeup easily, although I don’t like to waste it on such a meagre task, I use it as my second cleanse predominately It is such a luxurious and sensual product, it is for me, the epitome of a pamper evening. It is a beautiful product and I am very sad to hear that it will be going. I haven’t linked directly to it as the link will break I should imagine, however, it is still available on the Deviant Skincare website so grab it whilst you still can.
A product that I am sure you are familiar with by now is the Pixi Glow Tonic. Pictured here is a brand new bottle which I have just started using once more. I did finish up one of these just before Christmas after going on a hiatus in using it. After incorporating this back into my routine towards the end of last year I started seeing such positive results. My skin was clearer and brighter and I am pretty certain that was down to this product. Needless to say, I’ll be keeping it within my routine going forward. I do keep meaning to try more from Pixi skincare but just haven’t got around to it, I should definitely address that in 2022.
Another firm favourite for a couple of years now is the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant*. If you haven’t tried this product then I do urge you to do so, pick up a travel size sample as it will last you a little while. I find nothing makes my skin feel as soft as this once I have used it. I don’t use it daily, despite the name but I do use it once or twice a week to give my skin a gentle physical exfoliation. It brightens skin, exfoliates away dead skin cells and helps even skin. It also now comes in a refillable which is great news!
Onto makeup, I actually only have two favourites this year as I didn’t experiment outside of what I knew. The first favourite and one which I now need to re-buy is the Lumene Instant Glow Fresh Skin Tint. I picked it up in the Feel Unique Pick n’Mix which is a great idea by Feel Unique. I would recommend checking that out as you can pick five samples, some of which are decent sizes. Since I did that they have also introduced a beauty box that you build up yourself so that may be better, I’ll be checking that out properly myself. I thoroughly enjoyed using this product, it was light and it smelt lovely which I think is an odd thing to remark on for a product such as this but hey, there we go. I noticed it so commented on it. I also found that it provided decent coverage considering it is just a skin tint. I think it is more it than that personally. I’ll be repurchasing on payday.
My second makeup favourite is the Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara. I can’t remember where I got this from, although I know it wasn’t a PR sample; I’d remember that. This is a great mascara for enhancing the length of lashes and adding volume, in fact, it is one of the best I have found. I do find that it does smudge a tad on me which would be my only criticism. I can overlook that for the most part though, the pros definitely outweigh the cons when it comes to this in my experience.
The final favourite comes in the form of fragrance. It has been way too long since I featured fragrance on here let me tell you! The Estee Lauder Modern Muse Nuit fragrance is a bit of an old go to now, I have had it a little while now but I still love it as much as I did the day I first tried it. I do have the original which I like, however, I do prefer this version out of the two. This is a darker and more sensual take on the original and you can tell the difference. I’m awful at describing scents of amber, musk and jasmine. I just adore it and will repurchase it when I eventually run out. Luckily for me, it is still going strong,
