One of my favourite products when it comes to the world of make up has to be eye shadow. From the neutral tones of the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette to the bright wonders of the Illamasqua Paranormal Palette there has been a craving inside of me to try different looks with eye shadows and the vast array of colours available.
A few weeks ago I was offered the opportunity to try one of the Deborah Milano 24Ore Velvet Eye Shadows which are available in 22 different shades, I chose shade 9 ‘Deep Violet’ as I like purple eye shadows in general and thought that it would be a nice colour to use as we head into autumn.

To me this is a dark grape kind of colour which is true to the colour shown in the pan once applied to the lid. I do find that a lot of eye shadows can often be lighter once applied than they initially look, particularly with darker colours. As you can see here the packaging is a simple plastic case with a clear see through lid allowing you to see what colour you have. I really like the raised detail of the eye shadow itself; it’s a nice touch and looks rather pretty. The only thing I’m not overly fussed about is the little eye shadow brush that comes with it as I never use these with anything, the same rings true with other products I own as the brushes that come with them nine times out of ten never get used.
This eye shadow is really soft and easy to apply I found with it being very pigmented leaving me having to use only a bit on my brush each time. I’ve so far only used these with a primer therefore on me they do last up pretty well throughout the day, particularly when used upon a cream eye base. I put mine on top of the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Pink Gold as it was the only colour I had suitable.
I must confess I struggle with eye shadow in general; I just cannot seem to grasp the fundamental technique. This is somewhat a bizarre photograph but my oh my I struggled to get anything half decent; it is high time I got a new lens or something. I do hate being too self critical as it’s no good for moral therefore here above is my attempt at a purple toned look, using deep violet from Deborah Milano along with a hint of white eye shadow from MUA on top of Pink Gold as a base from Maybelline.
These can be used as a wet formula too which I should imagine would provide a more intense colour pay off, I may just have to try that next!
These are individually priced at £5.50 which is pretty much on the same level as many products in Boots and Superdrug.
