Last Thursday evening I attended the Perfecting Beauty event held at Selfridges in Birmingham with fellow bloggers Aimee, Sarah, Kirsty and Vanessa. Starting at 5pm we were welcomed with proseco and some other rather odd drinks (chilli lemonade anyone?). Wrists decorated with our beauty event bracelets off we went to see what was happening.
Across the Selfridges Beauty Hall there are a variety of well-known brands such as Illamasqua, MAC, Bobbi Brown, Dior, Urban Decay and many more. There are also quite a few brands that I’ve never myself experienced before such as Suqqu, Show Beauty and HC LuxSpa. At the various counters there were a number of demonstrations, talks and gift with purchases available therefore it was a great opportunity to learn new tips and tricks as well as to try new products out.
Knowing that I was attending the event a few weeks prior I decided that I would put the last of my birthday money to good use and purchase a Charlotte Tilbury Eye Shadow Palette. The tickets for the event cost £10 however these were redeemable against any purchase on the night which I thought was such a good idea. I initially had two options in mind for my choice of palette, The Uptown Girl or The Golden Goddess. However after asking for advice off Aimee and Sarah I ended up coming away with The Dolce Vita which truly is incredible and quite different to any colours shades that I already own yet still of course completely wearable for day and night time.
In all honesty my evening was all about Charlotte Tilbury after I experienced a mini make over at the counter. The truly beautiful MUA made me feel like a brand new woman whereby I have to say it was so surreal to see my make up done professionally compared to my poor attempts in the past. I left the counter purse considerably lighter yet confidence blooming; the Charlotte Tilbury quote on the make up bag ” give a woman the right make up and she can conquer the world” had never felt more true, even if it was just for that evening.
The image at the top shows you what I picked up on the night whereby I purchased The Dolce Vita Eye Shadow Palette, The Filmstar Bronze and Glow Face Sculpt and Highlight and The Retoucher Concealer and Treat Stick. From Illamasqua I also picked up an Eyebrow Cake in ‘thunder’ after discussing my eyebrow woes with the MUA. He picked out the shade for me and did my brows for me which was really nice as I’m quite honestly shocking when it comes to my eyebrows. Before I even got to the event I also nipped into The Body Shop as I really wanted to pick up the Tea Tree Cool and Creamy Face Wash after hearing Estée mention this a few times in her videos.
On the night if you spent over £75 collectively across the beauty hall you could take part in the pic n mix which was full of luxury sized samples of a number of products for free. This was incredibly exciting as it was full of products that I really wanted to try therefore I chose the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer along with the Dermalogica Ultracalming Cleanser and the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm.
Speaking of Dermalogica I along with the girls had mini skin consultations where we came away with samples to try of the skincare routine selected for us. We were also given complementary samples of the Daily Microexfoliant which sounds like a really unique product and one that I’m looking forward to trying very soon.
One of the most exciting things of the night was at Tom Ford where I witnessed Aimee and Sarah have their make up done with some of the new limited edition releases; they both looked stunning! The girls at the counter were equally as beautiful and so kind as they gave me two mini lipsticks in the shades Pink Dusk and Cherry Lush along with a sample of the new Tom Ford Velvet Orchid fragrance which smells so good, particularly for this upcoming autumn/winter.
Sali Hughes was also at the event which was fantastic as I felt as though I learnt so many things in regards to make up application and general make up knowledge. She also had incredible heels on that evening that I couldn’t take my eyes off for a good while; Louboutins are truly incredible.
Overall I really cannot recommend popping along to the next event or even just the beauty hall on your next visit to Birmingham. It really is a fantastic experience and one that all make up enthusiasts should experience at least once or twice.
