Gifted (This post contains products which have been gifted to me for consideration, all thoughts are my own).
It feels so good to be working my way through my beauty stash, especially since I picked up quite a few new beauty bits this Christmas which was most unexpected. Even though I am a beauty blogger, I rarely receive beauty products as gifts, so I was quite taken aback in December with some of the things I did receive. Due to this, I have made a pledge with myself in that I will not be using any of my new things until older, similar products have been used up first.
I do still enjoy sharing posts like these and hope that you enjoy reaidng them too.
The first product to hit my empties was the Botanics All Bright Soothing Eye Makeup Remover which I picked up on a whim quite a while ago. I have to say that this was great at removing my makeup, I had no issues on that front. What I found ultimately was that I did not like the oily feeling that this left on my eyes, even if for only a few minutes before I cleansed; I just did not like it. I tend to stick to micellar waters nine times out of ten to remove my eye makeup and this only emphasised why. If however you do like the bi-phase makeup removers then I would check this out, it worked a treat at removing my mascara.
My Skincare Favourites of 2018 featured the Argan + Overnight Treatment Cream* which I loved using last year. Sadly I reached the end of this not long after writing that post and now I have nothing within my routine which smells quite as good as this. In the future I would purchase this for myself, however, for now, I have quite a few things to get through first. Speaking of things which I have lots of, it is cleansers. I am working my way through them and have in fact managed to get it down to a nice manageable amount. The most recent one to hit the empties pile is the No7 Beautiful Skin Melting Gel Cleanser. Now, this was actually a product that I purchased for my mom at some point and I found myself ending up using it instead. I would say that this is similar to the Clarins Melting Gel Cleanser, only not as luxurious. It works really nicely, however, it is a bit dull in terms that it doesn’t smell of anything, I found it quite bland in truth. That being said, it did cleanse my skin quite well, I just probably wouldn’t pick this up again because I think there are nicer products which do a similar job. I also note that this has changed since I purchased this version, therefore, do take my opinion with somewhat of a pinch of salt as the newer version may be very different.
When it comes to products that I weren’t ultimately struck on, there is another, that being the Christian Breton SOS Eye Balm*. Unfortunately I really didn’t get on with this product at all. It is a rather hard balm within the little pot and that feeling doesn’t really change once applied. Upon application it feels fuzzy, it is a difficult product to describe. All I know is that I didn’t like it and I also found no advantage to using it as it did not hydrate my under eye area.
The L’Oreal Paradise Mascara was a big favourite of mine last year. It worked so well on my lashes and made them look fuller, longer and with an added curl to boot. I would definitely repurchase this in the future, although for now I am once again really enjoying the Soap and Glory Thick and Fast Mascara which I got at Christmas.
One of my firm favourite products from the last couple of years now has to be the Yves Saint Laurent Mon Paris Eau de Toilette. I have repurchased this previously and probably will continue to do so, it is such a gorgeous fragrance. This is a fairly floral fragrance with notes of Patchouli, White Musk, Raspberry Accord and Orange Flower.
Once again Batiste features within an empties, this is, of course, no surprise. It’s a fantastic dry shampoo and I rely on this heavily each month.
