So, if you are not following me on Instagram, you may be forgiven for not being aware that I recently visited Paris. I had never been before and it had always been a place that I had wanted to visit. Of course, the iconic scenes such as the Eiffel Tower, The Lourve and the Arc de Triomphe were all sights that I wanted to see, plus, what with it being less than an hours flight from the airport it seemed to make sense to pay a visit.
Whilst I was there I had a fantastic time, we did so much walking and managed to conquer the metro system which in hindsight, really wasn’t that bad. We had glorious food and even managed to survive the 40-degree heat, yes, we went THAT weekend. On a whole I absolutely loved it and would urge anybody that has not been before to go, it was a beautiful city and one which I would not hesitate to go back to.
Whilst I was there I made a point at trying to locate a Sephora. Of course, the beauty enthusiast in me was not going to miss popping in store. Luckily, we found a store on the Champs-Élysées which I immediately headed on over to (after popping into the Disney store), plus, what made it even better, it had glorious air con which we rather needed after our walk.
I will be honest, whilst I was there I had no particular purchases in mind, I should have perhaps in hindsight have done my research better. That being said, it was fun to browse and see what they had without any real up to date knowledge with respect to what they had to offer.
The first item I chose was actually in the sale and it was the Sephora Favourites Beauty Trends themed box which was down to €18 which is around £16. Inside there were quite a few things, in fact, I was quite impressed with the boxes that were available and they got me thinking how we don’t really have anything like that at stores such as Selfridges or Boots.
Inside there were eight products with two being full size, those two being the Make Up Forever Artist Colour Pencil in Dark Brown and the Sephora Collection Lipstories Lipstick in the shade A Little Magic which in truth is perhaps not something I will reach for due to the matte formula; unfortunately this is a finish that I find difficult to wear as my lips always get so dry. Included within this box there was the Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream which I am excited to try, along with the Too Faced Primed and Peachy Cooling Matte Skin Perfecting Primer. I also got my first purple lip product in the form of Huda Beauty Lip Strobe in the shade Fearless, which I have to say I have tried and loved, although I know deep down I will not be wearing this out in public, perhaps I could save it for Halloween instead.
The other items contained in the box included hydrating lip gels from Patchology, these may come in handy before using said lipstick mentioned above! There were also two Fenty Beauty products which I found was rather unexpected, due to how new the brand is and indeed how popular it has been I wouldn’t have expected to find them in a beauty box such as this, not to mention a discounted one at that. The first was the Fenty Beauty Flyliner Longwear Liquid Eyeliner which I have to say is rather impressive, I have just started using this and I like it a lot. The second Fenty Beauty product was a mini Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick in the shade Candy Venom which is gorgeous. As I mentioned above, matte formulas are my least favourite however I have made this work by just dabbing the colour on and blending it with my fingers. It is such a pretty shade and due to how pigmented this is, I find that this method works really well for me without it causing unnecessary dryness.
Speaking of Fenty Beauty, whilst in the queue, I spotted the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb and decided to add this to my basket. I am aware that this can be picked up in the UK, however, this is a minor, minor detail.
The other items that I picked up in Sephora itself were in fact from Sephora’s own brand. I chose three face masks, the first one being the Banana Cream Mask to nourish the skin and the second, the Peppermint Gum Mask to tone. I also picked up the Greet Tea Face Mask which is a sheet mask and cost me €2, bargain! At the moment I haven’t opened any of these as I want to have a bit of a skincare sort out, and use up all of my current open masks before I start any new ones, therefore, if you have tried these, please do let me know what you think. They were really affordable so if they are not very good or leave me feeling underwhelmed I won’t be too upset. The last Sephora item was the Sephora Flash Sequins Eyeshadow Palette which I have to say looks so much better in person than it does in this photograph. It has some beautiful warm shades with two mattes and four shimmers, I also really like how travel-friendly this is. I hope to be back with this in the future with a little review or ultimate thoughts as now that I have photographed it for this post I can put it to the test.
The final few products were what I picked up in a local pharmacy. I had a good brose and there was so much to choose from, although I knew deep down that I really do have an abundance of skincare at home, therefore, I limited my purchases to just two. Firstly, I picked up a travel size version of the Bioderma Micellar Water as the one I had brought with me, unfortunately, burst in my case. I also found myself reaching for the Embryolisse Lait-Créme Concentré which I know is somewhat of a cult classic amongst so many beauty lovers. For a number of years I have held off purchasing this due to the mineral oil content and even now, I am somewhat dubious. I will admit that curiosity has got the better of me in respect of this product, therefore, I am looking forward to giving it a try, although I will be airing on the side of caution when I do, just in case!
