It is a new decade, a new year and 2020 is already getting off to a rocky start. I will spare you the raw details, however, let’s just say that so far it hasn’t been good to me. That being said, I am trying to remain positive and focused. This post is, of course, a little bit late given that we are now on the 2nd of February. I would have ideally have liked this to be up in January, although due to one reason and another it has just got pushed back. Nevertheless, it is up and running, after much deliberation on the photos. I just couldn’t decide what photos to use for this post today, so, in the end, I decided to use some nice pictures from a recent walk up the woods to my favourite place.

When sitting back to think of my yearly goals I must admit I have struggled, I feel like that there is only a handful that I have this year, some being repeats of previous years and some which I am most certainly determined to achieve; even if it kills me (not literally), although maybe the pursuit of them may!
Last year my post on this topic was received well and I am happy to say that I did achieve some of the goals that I set out for myself. Those being to finally qualify as a Solicitor, to read more ( I dropped a link to my Goodreads there) and to increase my savings. The last two were more difficult to achieve as the former was simply a case of waiting for the day to roll around, however, all in all, in terms of the goals I had set myself, it was a pretty successful year.
This year, I have one main goal and that is to increase my savings as quickly as possible so that maybe, just maybe, I can look to buying my first home towards autumn/winter. It is a big step, it may not even be possible but it is my primary goal and even if I don’t get around to buying a house in 2020, I want to know it is a step that I can take in early 2021 because financially, I should be there. I hope. I am of course doing this all by myself, I have no family assistance, no magic pot of money coming from anywhere other than myself. It is hard, very hard.

There are of course a few other goals that are important to me, and I have listed them below. If I don’t achieve them it is not the biggest concern, although it would be nice to tick a few of them off the list come 31st December 2020 in say, 333 days.
- Kick nail-biting and learn to do my own gel nails
- Reduce beauty purchases
- Take up project pan and use up products from my stash
- Blog more consistently
- Reduce my time endlessly scrolling on my mobile
- Read 20 books or more
- Increase my savings alongside my deposit (how I will do that, I have no idea)
- Be more eco-friendly
- Drive to further afield places so I can explore this beautiful country more
- Stand up for myself
- Get back into running
- Be more organised.
For now, these are the top things that spring to mind. Key ones being, of course, to reduce my spending on beauty products. There will be no savings if that continues and it will only take longer to achieve what I want. I also wish to explore ways of being more eco-friendly, particularly within my beauty routine. Therefore, if anybody can recommend any particularly re-usable cotton pads that they use then please do let me know. I would be very interested to find out which ones you use as there are so many available now, I want to find some which will wash well and last for a while.
So there we have it, an insight into my 2020 goals. I would love to hear yours, please do share them with me below and if you have written a similar post, please do point me in that direction so I can have a nosey.
