Since January I have picked up a few new bits and bobs from Boots. If you are in the UK then you will be familiar with Boots and if not, it is essentially a store which sells beauty brands for skincare, makeup, fragrance and the like, along with a pharmacy, baby section and more. I love it, and they also do a points system which is great once they add up, although, in truth, I do always save my points for Christmas.
I must admit, I have struggled lately to not buy things. Being cooped up at home has not helped so I have been a bit trigger happy when online shopping. That being said, these products are all quite affordable barring one so overall I don’t feel too bad. So, to carry on with my little series of recent beauty purchases, I am here to share with you today my latest. I made a Boots order several weeks ago now as I needed to buy a birthday present. They had some things online so I used that opportunity to chuck in a few extras.
The first product I picked up was the Soaper Duper Zesty Sicilian Lemon Body Wash. This is my second body wash from Soaper Duper but this will be the first time I have tried this particular scent. At the moment I am finishing off the Passionfruit version and my oh my do I adore it. You get 450ml of product for £7.50 which I do think is good but it is more than I want to pay for a body wash, so I always look out for offers. I do like to branch out and try new things which is why this was one of my latest purchases, plus, I really do like these body washes. The packaging is also 100% recyclable and the product itself contains no parabens, SLS/SLES, colours or, and I quote “any of the other usual suspects“. Soaper Duper also supports Water Aid.
The second item I picked up was one which I wanted but hadn’t planned on buying that day. This was the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra 8 Face Mist. Now, this was one which I purchased in-store when I popped in for some essentials, I found it on the clearance stand for £1.50 so of course, it came home with me. Made popular by Caroline Hirons, I haven’t yet tried it but I may open it up soon as I am flying through face mists during the lockdown in order to keep my skin hydrated throughout the day. The mist is free from alcohol and fragrance so it should be helpful for those in particular with sensitive skin.
Onto repurchases, I loved the Indeed Labs Retinol Reface and found that it was so gentle on my skin when I used it before. It is mild retinol and I would have thought it would be ideal for those just starting out with anti-ageing products in this way, it is after all where I have started (along with Beauty Pie). Often found on offer, I always wait for this to drop down in price as you can pick it up for just over £13 as opposed to its full price of £19.99. I like this and will use this up once again but perhaps after that, I will move onto something a bit stronger. I am looking towards Medik8 for my next retinol purchase which I must admit, I am quite excited about.
Now, a brand that I looked at numerous times before purchasing anything was Ole Henriksen. The brands launched on Boots last year (if I remember correctly) and ever since then I have been itching to try a few things. It is a more expensive brand compared to others that I have featured today, but, when I saw the launch of the Pre-Makeup Babies Skincare Prep Set I knew I had to get it. For £36 you get four products to test out which come in decent travel size form, it also had two of the products inside which I was most keen to try. Inside the kit you get the PHAT Glow Facial 15ml, Glow2OH Dark Spot Toner 65ml, Banana Bright Eye Crème 7ml and the Banana Bright Face Primer 15ml. It is the eye cream and PHAT facial which I have been looking at the most. I will report back on the products inside this kit once I have tested them out, if in the meantime you have tried these though, please do let me know what you think of them, and any of the other brands mentioned today come to think of it.
The last three products I picked up come from Boots own brand, under the Boots Glow name. Everything in the range from what I understand is £4 making it very affordable. Of course, there is no denying that the packaging is an instant hit, it certainly stands out and looks very pretty indeed. BUT, this is not the majorly important thing here as it is the product inside what matters, pretty packaging is just an added bonus. I decided to pick up three things from the range, those being the Boots Glow Eye Cream, Boots Glow Tonic and the Boots Glow Brightening Mist. The range appears to be based around niacinamide which is a popular ingredient of late and I know that I have personally incorporated it into my routine as a direct ingredient. Once again, I haven’t tried any of these as of yet as I am finishing up some products that are currently open.
In a bid to use up older things, I have recently done a better clear out and I got rid of bits that I knew deep down were too old. I’m now quite up to date with things but I am making a mental note not to use brand new stuff for a few months just whilst I use up older things.
