Wild Deodorant
Long time no see folks. The first two months of the New Year have been a bit of a whirlwind. I can’t quite believe it is March next month, I feel like I blinked and I missed the last two months. So much has been going on personally that I am not quite sure where to start. I am contemplating writing a blog post but at the moment, I’m not quite sure how to put into words how I am feeling. It will come I am sure.
In the meantime, I have wanted to share with you a discovery of last year which I am finally sitting down to write about. I’m talking about Wild Deodorant. You may have seen it on your social channels, it has been quite popular which ironically is the reason why I put off buying it. I am however glad I did, although I was tempted by the discount in Sainsbury’s which ultimately gave me the push I needed.
So, what is Wild Deodorant? As you may well know, plastic is a huge environmental issue. Each year millions of single-use plastic items are dumped into landfills and our oceans; it is causing huge problems. Wild have set out to create a reusable product, a deodorant which we all rely on (well, most of us) each day to keep fresh and pong free. Wild has created a reusable deodorant applicator made of aluminium which you can use time and time again, it also comes in a variety of colours. I have two, the orange which you can see below and the blue one. The deodorant refills which sit inside the case with your go-to fragrance are also made of bamboo pulp. Once empty these can be composted or recycled with your paper waste. It’s a great idea and a great product.
I will admit, I was sceptical at first. I have only ever had real success with one brand in particular so I was wary at the thought of moving over to something new. What made me do it? Well, I aim to limit my plastic use where I can, I want to make better choices and reduce my impact on the environment. The deodorants I used previously were single-use and were thrown away after I had finished them. Not ideal.

In terms of the packaging, I love it. The cases are lightweight, easy to use, sleek in design and look nice on your dressing table. As I have already mentioned, the cases also come in a variety of colours and they often do special limited editions too which is a fun aspect of the brand. You can also pick from a variety of scents. So far I have used Orange Zest, Fresh Cotton and Sea Salt and Jasmine and Mandarin Blossom. They have all been lovely and I look forward to trying out new scents in the coming months.
It is important to note that Wild deodorant is not an antiperspirant. Here is what they have to say on the topic:
“Wild isn’t antiperspirant as we don’t use aluminium salts in our deodorant. This is because we think sweating is a natural and important function. Instead, our deodorant contains alternative ingredients such as tapioca starch which absorbs moisture and keeps you dry all day. The deodorant is also extremely effective at tackling odours associated with sweating, so you’ll smell fresh all day. After switching from antiperspirant to deodorant a number of people have found they sweat less in general.“
My experience with Wild deodorant I have to say has been very positive. Initially, I was unsure, whilst I loved the design or the product and the scents on offer I did have some concerns that it was not working so well. After a few weeks though I feel as though my body got used to it and adapted, it’s strange but it works. I feel fresh and dry, there is no typical body odour after a long day at work. I am really impressed and will for the foreseeable future keep purchasing the refills.

You can choose to subscribe to WIld opting for refills to be sent to you through the post as and when you require, however as I can pick them up from my local Sainsbury’s I had chosen not to do that. I must admit though if I didn’t have that option I would consider subscribing for ease.
