Over the past few weeks we have all been getting used to something which has changed our lives. With the presence of COVID19 we are all at home, and only popping out if necessary. It is a strange thing to have to do, we haven’t know anything like this in our lives and I know that I for one have struggled with being at home every day and not being able to get out. I have also found it really difficult not working. Yes it would have been lovely to have several weeks off work, but not in these circumstances.
So, to try and keep myself busy what have I been up to? Well, not a huge amount it feels like, but, when you sit down and think about it, there isn’t that much you are able to do when you’re not allowed out socially. Perhaps we are all putting a bit too much pressure on ourselves to keep being busy, when in fact, there is a lockdown in place and we have to stay at home. That being said, there are a few things I have been doing around the house which has brought me joy over the last few weeks, therefore I thought I would share them with you today.

So, this is perhaps more for those who love beauty and have large beauty collections. Now could be a good time to sort through them, clean off those dusty palettes and makeup brushes along with rotating your makeup collection. I spent yesterday afternoon cleaning up palettes and sorting through them and I must admit, it was rather enjoyable. It is also a great time to have a go at creating makeup looks and being more daring, I know that I am going to try and create some bolder looks with some of my more ‘out there’ eyeshadow palettes.
I am also reading quite a bit during lockdown which I have to say, I am enjoying a lot. I recently read The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary and last night I finished Blood Orange by Harriet Tyce. I recommend both wholeheartedly, they are fantastic reads and I felt like I couldn’t put either down. Speaking of which, it is now a good time to join Goodreads if you enjoy reading. I have linked my profile in case you are interested to see what I start reading next.
A good few years ago I went through the phase of buying adult colouring books. There are some beautiful ones by Joanna Basford and Millie Marotta if you are interested. Luckily I still had them, the majority untouched. I have pulled them out and have enjoyed completing a few of the designs.
Speaking of drawing etc, I stumbled upon the artist Jamie Taylor a few weeks ago now after I found a charity painting he had done being shared on Facebook. This was the Saviour NHS Robin, whereby proceeds from the sale of such painting were being donated to the NHS. So far he has raised thousands and he has even designed more robin paintings for other key workers such as teachers and police officers. They are well worth checking out if you get the chance. Jamie Taylor has also launched a ‘paint at home’ kit and colouring book which I purchased in order to keep me somewhat occupied. I am looking forward to testing out my watercolour skills this week.

A few other things you can do during lockdown are:
- Practice Photography
- Start a new series
- Decorate or re-arrange a room
- Study a free online course with The Open University
- TikTok videos
- Learn a language online
- Create a new skincare routine and research your skin type and needs
- Exercise – This could be learning Yoga via an online class, starting the Couch to 5k or simply attempting the 30 Day Shred for the millionth time
- Bake
- De-clutter your home
- Organise your wardrobe
- Update your CV – this sounds boring but it is one of those jobs we all put off
- Start a blog
- Facetime friends and family
- Join a virtual online quiz
- Re-read the Harry Potter Series (I am very tempted to do this one myself)
- Volunteer for the NHS
- Relax.
I hope that you found this post today somewhat helpful and that it may have given you a few ideas of things to do. It is a bit different from my usual content that is for sure. During this time I have kept on producing by beauty content as I wanted to keep things as consistent and as normal as possible, however, these are not normal times and I wanted to acknowledge that in some way.
Let me know what you have been doing to stay occupied.
Stay safe everybody x
