Gifted (This post contains some products which have been gifted to me for consideration, all thoughts are my own). For transparency, in the past, I have been sent products to feature from Soap and Glory. Today’s post features Soap and Glory products that I received as gifts from friends and family.
It is that time once more, to finally share with you a few more empties that I have gathered over the last few months and then ceremoniously chuck them in the recycling bin. I still collect a pile of empties over time in a little corner of my room, some habits never change. I have managed to put together quite a few this time around, although this means that this will be a long post sharing with you my final thoughts on the products featured here today.
Some of these products I loved and would definitely repurchase whereas there were a few that left me feeling a bit underwhelmed, they were nice but nothing to shout out about. So, let’s crack on with it and get to business, however before I do, if you wish to read more posts in this series then just click here.
The first product I loved and would repurchase if funds allow was the Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil which I picked up ages ago within the first Cult Beauty Box by Anna and Lily. This is going back a while now, however, I didn’t start using it straight away. I had the 15ml travel size and it lasted me such a long time, I would happily purchase this size again in order to keep costs down. Overall I thought that this was fantastic for my skin, I found that each morning having used this the night before that my skin looked clearer and re-charged along with looking more youthful and bright. It isn’t often that you notice a significant difference with beauty products, however after regular use (I at first wasn’t using this as often as I perhaps should have been) I did notice a difference and a positive one at that. Generally speaking, I would use this between three to four times a week of an evening after cleansing, I would then put on a bit of moisturiser if I felt that my skin needed it. I would repurchase this in the future, however, for now, I am considering alternatives because I am curious to see what other products are on the market.
I have also finished up a miniature Gentle Chamomile Eye Makeup Remover from The Body Shop. I used to purchase this repeatedly during my university days as I was really close to a store, however, of late I rarely pick it up due to discovering the likes of the Garnier Micellar Water. I have enjoyed using this once again; it was nice to use something different as I always pick up the Garnier version these days. Would I repurchase? Yes if I was unable to pick up the other option, although, in truth, that is quite unlikely as it is sold almost everywhere. On a side note, I am using the cleansing balm from this range and it is incredible! I love it.
Sticking with micellar waters, I have also used up a travel size miniature of the Elemis White Flowers Eye and Lip Makeup Remover which I picked up in the Lily and Lionel Travel Collection gift set last year. I loved that gift set and have enjoyed most of the products out of it so far. Unfortunately, this eye makeup remover was not to my liking, although I did manage to finish it. Due to the bi-phase nature of it, I just found it too oily around my eyes. It worked as it should have done, my feelings on this come from personal preference only. If you like the bi-phase texture and if you wear waterproof eye makeup then this may be worth considering.
The No7 Protect and Perfect Intense Advanced Eye Cream was within my beauty advent calendar last year, I also received it within a No7 gift set at Christmas too, therefore, I have two, or at least did have until I finished this one up. On the whole, it was ok, although it doesn’t compare to my favourite one from Kiehls (nothing ever does). Would I repurchase? No, although I will happily use up my next one. I just didn’t find it to be as thick as I would like nor as hydrating.
The last two skincare items come from BareMinerals and Omorovicza, with the former being the BareMinerals Clay Chameleon Transforming Purifying Cleanser* which I received a while back. Again, on a whole this did a nice job at cleansing my skin, I would also add that the texture of this was super smooth. It was dreamy to use and unlike some cleansers, it was also easy to get out of the tube as well. This may seem like a trivial point however, you try getting out a thick cleanser out of a tube, it is hard. I liked that this was a dusty red in colour, it was different from any other that I had tried before. In truth I can’t say that I would purchase this in the future, it just didn’t wow me. What I can say is that it was very gentle on my skin, I had no irritation and it didn’t dry my skin out whatsoever which is something to look out for with clay cleansers.
Sticking with clay but moving over onto a mask, the Omorovicza Deep Cleansing Mask* I have had for a while and for the most part I enjoyed it. It was nice to experience a more luxurious brand to see what they could offer when it came down to a clay mask. Whilst I enjoyed the results (nothing more remarkable than a cheaper version I have to say) I can’t say that I was blown away by this which I find pains me to say as on a whole I really do like Omorovicza. I think having now used this that I would prefer to spend my money on a serum or oil from the brand as opposed to a clay mask.
Moving onto shower and hair products, I received a few Soap and Glory products at Christmas so I have been using some of them up in order to prevent a Soap and Glory take over. Let’s just say that I have quite a few Soap and Glory products lying around at home. I finished up the Righteous Butter Creamy Body Wash which I liked, although I probably wouldn’t repurchase unless it came as part of a gift set. I much prefer the Clean on Me Shower Gel, again, it boils down to personal preference as the product itself was nice and of course, it had the traditional Soap and Glory scent.
In terms of hair, I used up the Herbal Essences Bio-Renew Deep Sea Minerals Shampoo which I really enjoyed. In the past Herbal Essences has made my hair greasy, therefore I held off purchasing anything from the brand for years. That was until I saw the latest releases and thought I would try them out. So far I have used two from the range and both have worked really nicely on my hair, offering hydration and cleanliness without leaving my hair dry or making it greasy just a few hours later. Would I repurchase? I already have.
In respect of makeup, there is only one item this time and that is again another from Soap and Glory. This is the Supercat Eyeliner which I have used several times before, I still think that it is a great eyeliner. This one, unfortunately, dried up due to use, although I would always recommend it to those looking for a new liner from the high street. It lasts fairly well throughout the day, however, to prolong this I would always add a light cover of black eyeshadow across it using an eyeliner brush or fine eyebrow brush, it really does work.
My final empty is a fragrance (this almost never happens) as I use my fragrances sparingly. To note, I received the Dolce and Gabbana Rose The One* from Fragrance Direct almost six years ago. Yes, it has taken that long to see it through, although to be fair it was the full size. I most likely wouldn’t purchase this again (if it still exists) it was nice whilst I had it and I enjoyed using it, however after what is almost six years I am definitely looking to new alternatives.
