Gifted (This post contains products which have been gifted to me for consideration, all thoughts are my own).
To this day, despite having now been blogging over 7 years (where did that time go) I still find it exciting to try out new skincare, especially when I haven’t tried the brand before. One such brand is Dermalogica. A few months ago now I had the opportunity to try out a new regime from Dermalogica, which is, of course, a brand I knew of, yet hadn’t at the time had any experience of. I couldn’t wait to try out a few things given how well established they are and how many people love them. It goes without saying that since I have been trialling out these new products that I have fallen in love with two (one not pictured as I completely forgot it) which is incredibly frustrating. In fact, I am currently sat here wondering whether to re-take these pictures again. Alas, time is always against me these days, therefore, I will have to come back and feature it in a favourites post in due course.
Moving on! I have been testing out the Dermalogica Pre Cleanse Facial Cleansing Oil*, Daily Micro Exfoliant*, Special Cleansing Gel* and the Skin Smoothing Cream* over a period of a few months and feel that I can now give my ultimate thoughts on each of the products.

Dermalogica Pre Cleanse Facial Cleansing Oil*
This is one of the two products which I have fallen for, it is divine! First and foremost I love the scent, I find it to be really therapeutic which works nicely given that this is a product that I reach for on the evening after coming home from work to remove the first layer of my makeup. This works well on removing the daily build-up of grime and makeup leaving my skin ready for the second cleanse. To use you put this on dry skin and massage thoroughly, you then apply water whereupon doing so the oil turns to a milky consistency. It’s hydrating, gentle on the skin, smells lovely but not overpowering and overall it does the job wonderfully. It is a lovely product and one which I would like to keep on using for a while.
Dermalogica Daily Microexfoliant*
This for me is hit and miss and it isn’t the actual product itself. I love the concept and how once used it leaves my skin feeling as it feels great, however, my issue with this is how you apply it. I find that it just goes everywhere. The product is in powder form which to use you then apply water to in order to create a paste. I have trouble making said paste without losing half of it down the sink. I am getting better at it, however I can’t help feeling that there must be a better way to do this, maybe I am wrong and there is a lot more science behind it which goes beyond my knowledge. am aware that the product reacts with water releasing salicylic acid and rice enzymes, the trouble is these go down my sink too! That being said, the results are great and my skin feels so smooth afterwards. In truth I think this has helped make a visible difference in terms of the texture of my skin and the appearance, therefore I love it but struggle with the method of application. I would probably still buy this in the future, despite the struggles I have had.
Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel*
Out of the four products I have been actively using I would say that this is the one that I could perhaps take or leave. Don’t get me wrong, it is a nice gel cleanser but I haven’t experienced anything majorly different with this than I have others in the past. In truth, I prefer a cream cleanser or balm cleanser and that is probably why I haven’t enjoyed using it as much as the other products in the routine. That being said, this has cleansed my skin nicely and has left it hydrated and clean and really that’s all you can ask for. I tend to opt for this in the morning as opposed to the evening, although I did use it in the evening for trialling purposes and just found that in general, I would have preferred a cream cleanser as part of my evening skincare routine. I am aware though that Dermalogica do these so I am tempted to look into them given how impressed the range has on a whole left me. I think it is great.
Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream*
Now, this is perhaps my favourite out of all four products. It is a sheer delight to use and I am worried about coming to the end of the tube already. I think it is a gorgeous product which leaves my skin soft, hydrated, soothed and ready for either the day ahead (makeup prep) or bedtime, It also smells so relaxing to me (if that makes sense), it is just a sheer pleasure to use. This moisturiser locks in 48 hours of moisture by reducing moisture loss and it also protects against environmental stress. Now, if they marketed that work stress I would be purchasing this in the bucket loads.
Overall, my experience with Dermalogica has so far been fantastic. I would recommend the brand to people to try having now experienced them for myself and I would 100% go to a counter and explore their other products on offer as I can see that they have a lot of products targeting different skin concerns.
*This post contains PR samples, for more please read my disclaimer. I would also add that I am part of the Dermalogica Skinfluencer Blogger Prgoramme whereby they send out products for me to trial and review every now and then. This, of course, no way impacts my thoughts and I will be as honest and upfront regarding everything that I have tried.
