Every now and then, I discover a new brand and immediately take a shine to it. This has just so happened with Friction Free Shaving. Up until around a month ago, I had not heard of Friction Free Shaving, therefore, when the team got in touch to see if I would be interested in trying out one of their kits I, of course, said yes to the opportunity. I am interested in any brand which will make the task of shaving easier, more affordable and better for the environment.
So, what is the brand all about? Essentially, Friction Free Shaving is a subscription service for all things shaving. You receive a reusable razor handle, four fresh blades every month (or every other month) and this all comes with a recycling scheme for old blades which I think is a great idea as it is estimated that there are around 2 billion disposable razors which are thrown into landfill each year. This could be dramatically reduced by using razors which only require new blades as opposed to chucking the whole thing away. I know I am guilty of using disposable razors in the past and I am conscious of this now and will be making changes. Subscriptions start from £9 a month and are flexible to suit your needs. You can also choose to add additional products to your subscription as a one-off or every time if you fancy, such as the shaving cream, balm etc along with natural deodorants and facial waxing strips. In doing so, you, of course, will up the subscription charge, however, remember, this is a subscription service which you tailor to suit your needs.
I am a shaver through and through, I have tried hair removal creams, and waxing and I like neither. Shaving is always the method I go back to so, this subscription service does interest me quite a bit. It is useful and I must admit, I am considering venturing into it myself later on in the year.
The set featured here today is the Full Shaving Set* which retails at £33. Inside you get the razor body itself, you can choose between chrome or rose gold. It has a weighted metal handle making it feel more luxurious and more sturdy to use, in fact, I really like it. You can also choose to have it engraved (for an extra £6) which is a nice touch. I like this, it goes to show that it is a long term thing and it isn’t just something you will be putting in the bin when you have finished with it. You also receive four stainless steel blades, each one has six diamond-coated steel blades to help give you a clean shave without any snagging. With this, you receive a few accessories for the razor such as the head protector, shower hook and travel pouch. You also get within the kit the Pre Shave Scrub*, Shavin Cream* and the Post Shave Balm* which I think completes the kit wonderfully.
I think this kit is absolutely fantastic, it arrives in recyclable packaging too! There is also a smaller starter kit which retails for £18, I think this is particularly great for younger women who are perhaps just starting to get into shaving, it is also a good kit to have for travelling purposes. If it were me, I would just have this as a separate kit to keep in my travel bag so I always had one ready and packed away so to speak, to save having to remember to take one out of the bathroom each time I went away. As Mother’s Day is not far away either, this could be a good opportunity to snap up a gift.
You can also earn points on their website which earns you money off your orders and there are also seasonal offers. I really do like the concept of this brand and what they are doing. All of their products are cruelty-free and some of them are vegan, you will need to check each one just to make sure before you purchase if this is something you are looking out for.
At the moment Friction Free Shaving have some lovely little bundles that they have put together for Mother’s Day which is only one week away today. You can find similar sets to the small starter kit which also include either the scrub, shaving cream or balm. Or, if these don’t tickle your fancy just yet but you would like to try out the brand or think your mum would be interested then you can also find their natural deodorants and lip balms in a gift set too.
Overall, I really like what I have experienced so far with Friction Free Shaving and would recommend you have a go if this is something which interests you.
