The brand REN have been on my radar for a good number of months now as I have been reading fantastic reviews about a number of their products. One product in particular which had been cropping up frequently was the REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask of which after putting a little bit aside I found myself purchasing one rainy afternoon in Edinburgh. At £30 I must admit I did question my own sanity but it was my very first high end skincare purchase and one which I had purposely put the money aside for. Justifying myself aside, it was with this mask my love affair with REN began, therefore when I was kindly contacted to see if I would like to try something else from REN I must say I immediately jumped at the chance.
The REN Hydra Calm Global Protection Day Cream* is a day moisturiser which is specifically targeted at those with sensitive skin. This sounded perfect for me as my skin can be sensitive on occasion therefore I do try to stick to products aimed at those with sensitive skin purely to avoid any nasty surprises. Whilst being specifically entailed for sensitive skin types the product also aims to keep the skin hydrated and soothed as well as protecting the skin from free radicals which in turn help to tackle the signs of premature ageing. Now, I’m only 23 but I’m aware that I’m certainly not getting any younger (these years are flying by, I swear I was only 18 last week) therefore, any product claiming to battle signs of ageing is a welcome addition to my routine.
I use this product every morning after I have cleansed my face, whereby it leaves my skin feeling completely moisturised and soothed. I find that I can often suffer with redness in my skin early on in the morning therefore introducing this product to my skincare routine was a very much welcomed addition. I honestly do think that this product has helped calm these areas down as I have noticed that by the time I come around to putting my make up on the redness has started to reduce. I must also highlight the fact that I have seen an overall reduction in the redness on a day to day basis as I’ve continued to use this which for me is a really good sign of a brilliant product that does as it claims to do as I often find it quite hard to see changes in my skin.
At first I was concerned that this could be a little too thick for me as I do like gel moisturisers, particularly in the morning as my skin is oily to combination with the occasional dehydrated areas, therefore gels have always just seemed much more refreshing and less heavy for me. My initial concerns have definitely been erased as this product feels neither heavy nor greasy once applied to my skin, it does take a little longer to sink in compared to previous gel moisturisers but I don’t mind waiting if I have the time. I really like the fact that this is a dispenser moisturiser which I prefer so much more to tubs of products as they are much more hygienic.
At £27 this product is not budget friendly, I don’t think there is any point hiding that fact however, it is really nice and I think it is worth it particularly if you are somebody that suffers with sensitive skin and you’re looking for a product that will help sooth and bring your skin under control. I think a great way to try brands such as these which are more high end is to pick up a starter set such as the Travel Kit for Sensitive Skin as this allows you to try the products without spending too much first time, be warned though, you may get hooked!
REN really do interest me as they are free of quite a few ingredients which are appearing to be more and more frowned upon as the weeks go by, these being ingredients such as mineral oil, parabens, sulfates, silicones and a whole heap more. To take a look at the ingredient list of the Hydra Calm Global Protection Day Cream head on over to the REN website, there’s a whole heap of products there that intrigue me as I’m sure they will you.
Another huge bonus about REN is that they’re cruelty free!
