This year I’m aiming to feature many more fashion orientated posts on A Little Boat Sailing therefore when I found out about a competition being currently held by Debenhams I thought it was a great opportunity to start fashion blogging more and also enter myself to win some vouchers too.
In order to win £500 to spend at Debenhams all you have to do is create two looks, one for the day and one for the evening; read more here.

For my daytime outfit I wanted something that was nice and comfortable but still quite smart. I decided to choose a pair of brogues as at the moment I can’t get them out of my head. I really want a pair but so far haven’t got around to buying them. I’ve actually tried the Clarks Wine ‘Hamble Oak’ Brogues on in store and let me tell you they are so comfortable. At the time I couldn’t decide which colour to go for as there is a nice little selection to choose from. I wasn’t aware Clarks were sold at Debenhams so this was indeed a pleasant surprise, this is something that I will definitely bear in mind for the future.
To go with the brogues I chose the Oasis Renaissance Rose Print Skirt which I think is absolutely stunning. As soon as I saw it online I knew it would just fit perfectly for the look I wanted to achieve. Worn with black opaque tights I think this would look pretty nice against the wine coloured brogues. Fitting in with my relatively smart theme I opted for the Darling Black Heidi Blouse sheer black blouse. In order to stay warm this winter I’d recommend a black vest top or even a full length black long sleeve top underneath if you wanted to keep extra cosy.
Seeing as this outfit is tailored towards winter I still wanted to keep it quite girly which is why I chose a skirt and blouse, however this could be a little cold depending on how you layered up so to make up for it I chose the most gorgeous faux fur coat I have ever laid my eyes on. This fluffy number is the Quiz Stone Rose Faux Fur Long Coat which I think would really finish this outfit off, I chose this colour as I think it would complement the hints of cream within the skirt quite nicely.
This wouldn’t be a typical post on A Little Boat Sailing without some form of make up included therefore I had to include a bit of make up, how could I not? In order to keep things quite natural for the daytime I opted for the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette which offers some beautiful nude matte eye shadows which can be used to create a nice natural look.
Last but not least to finish off my daytime look I picked out a nice sleek black watch from Lorus. I personally will always find a way to incorporate a watch into an outfit, I feel rather lost without one on.

For my party look for the evening I wanted something that attracted a little bit more attention, I spotted the Wallis Black Sequin Dress and thought this would be the perfect dress to start off my outfit. I chose quite a simple pair of the Red Herring Black Patent Metallic High Heels as I thought these would complement the dress quite well. Silver is one of my favourite colours in the whole universe therefore the added touch of silver on the back of the heel was an extra bonus.
Of course you can’t go out these days without somewhere to put your purse, mobile phone and that extra bit of make up so I decided to choose this beautiful Carvela Black Daisy Clutch Bag to match my outfit. This also has a long strap so you can wear it on your shoulder without having to just hold it in your hand.
As I mentioned above I will find any watch to go with an outfit. Whilst out on a night out you don’t want to miss your taxi home so having some method of telling the time may be useful. I chose the Armani Exchange Quilted Dial Watch to finish off this party look. I think black and silver is an utterly fabulous combination, it works so well and looks so classic and elegant.
One cannot forget the Urban Decay Basics Palette featured in the first outfit posted; that too could be used for this look. A nice deep smoky eye could easily be created making that palette so versatile for both a daytime and party time look.
What do you think of my outfits? Let me know in the comments below.
P.S…I can’t stop thinking about that Oasis Skirt!
