Too Faced are by now well known for their soft feminine designs filled with light pinks and pastels, therefore, when I first saw the press images for the new Too Faced X Kat Von D collaboration I was immediately interested. As a brand on its own I love Too Faced, to see them do something a bit more edgy but also keep in touch with their authenticity was exciting. In the past I have tried a couple of things from Too Faced and have really liked what I have used, the La Creme Lipsticks from the brand were one of the first things I did experience and they did not disappoint.
Personally, up until now I had not tried anything from the Kat Von D beauty line; although I had heard and read a lot about her. In fact, I sat down and watched one of her videos a good two months ago now where she highlighted her work progress which included all the drawings and designs by her which I found utterly incredible and, I have to say, very admirable.
The collection features an array of separate products each embodied in beautiful packaging. I most certainly have my favourite from the collection and also a little giveaway for one of you so please do keep your eyes peeled as you read on through.
I think starting off with the Too Faced X Kat Von D Better Together Ultimate Eye Collection* is the most appropriate here as it is for me my favourite product. I first and foremost must comment on how much I adore the design of this, the contrast between the two sides is beautiful. They’re separate but somehow need to be together to work. As you can see from the image above and below, you can keep both products together (they’re held by a magnetic fitting) or you can take them apart if you wish.
When you open the inside you are treated to two sets of eye shadows, one being the side from Too Faced and the other from Kat Von D herself. Starting off with the Too Faced section of the palette you can easily see that it is filled with soft light hues, there are of course some darker shades but they all flow beautifully together and help to create the most beautiful soft natural eye for the daytime. The eye shadows are all really wearable, apart from the matte pinks shade, which is appropriately named ‘lovely’. I personally cannot see myself getting much use out of that as an eye shadow myself, however it could be used as a light blush to save it going to waste.
My favourite shade would have to be ‘Friendspiration’, this is a bit like MAC Amber Lights in my opinion which is one of my all-time favourite eye shadows. Each shade is pigmented and like butter to apply and of course visually the palette looks beautiful.
The Kat Von D side of the palette as you would expect is darker and true to her style. The eye shadows on offer are again of incredible quality as you would expect. There are three matte shades within this side of the palette, those being ‘devotion’ which is one of the best matte black shades that I have personally come across, the same also goes for ‘por vida’ which is a pure white matte. The stone grey of ‘yours’ is something quite unique as I don’t feel like I have anything quite like this in any of my other palettes. My personal favourite from this side of the palette however would be the metallic ‘darling’ shade which is like a taupe in tone; I simply adore it.
The Too Faced X Kat Von D Better Together Ultimate Eye Collection also comes with a full size Kat Von D Tattoo Liner and the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara which for both brands these are two of their best selling products.
The Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara* is surprisingly heavy for a mascara, naturally that has no impact whatsoever in respect of how well it works on the lashes yet it was something that I immediately noticed. The brush is perfect for creating volume and length on my lashes and I have experienced no flaking at all. I find it hard to review mascaras sometimes as I have naturally long lashes however the curl that this adds is beautiful, leaving pretty, natural looking lashes with a bit of oomph!
My oh my this liner has upped the game, now I know why the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner* is so well acclaimed. This has a super fine nib which bends slightly as you apply it, making application an absolute dream; it feels so soft upon use and not stiff in the slightest…. (take that whichever way you want). The pigmentation is superb and it lasts really well throughout the day, even during the extremely warm weather we have had recently.
The Second item from the collection is the Too Faced X Kat Von D Better Together Cheek and Lip Makeup Bag* which I have only one reservation over. To put it quite simply, I do not like the bag…I am sorry. It personally is just too young and kiddish for me, I would never use it, however the products inside are really quite lovely and give you a great insight into what both brands have to offer on a smaller scale. Included within this set is a mini lipstick and liquid lipstick from Kat Von D and mini blush and highlight from Too Faced.
The last item within the collection is the Too Faced X Kat Von D Better Together Bestselling Mascara and Liner Duo* which contains a mini Better Than Sex Mascara and a mini Tattoo Liner. I would love to give this little duo away to one of you, especially having made your way down this extremely long blog post today. Having tried both products myself I just know that they will be loved equally by somebody else, therefore please do enter in order for a chance to win.
