So, it is time to share with you the first Glossybox of 2020, the Sleep and Refresh Edit. In December last year, I decided to subscribe to Glossybox after cancelling another well-known subscription brand. I decided that I thought Glossybox looked like a better option and therefore joined and got my first box for just £7. In the end, I didn’t end up posting about the December box as it was so close to Christmas and life was super busy; although I did share the box on my Instagram if you want to see what is inside, and of course keep up with my posts in the future. The December box in truth was nice, I was quite happy with it, although there was one product which definitely wasn’t for me. On the whole, it was ok and I was pleased enough to keep my subscription open.
Having now received the January box I can say that this is better than the December box in my opinion, so for now, I remain a subscriber. I do find beauty boxes really hit and miss which is why I have never stayed subscribed for very long to any one particular brand. I like to know what I am getting before I spend my money so they are a bit of risk for me.
The January Glossybox edit is based around the theme of sleep and refresh which I think is a nice theme for the new year. After the Christmas build-up, you can feel a bit worn out and January is always a bit of a miserable and long month for many. I think getting sleep and of course, rejuvenating yourself is so important so I can see where the brand was coming from with this edit.
Each month you get five products inside the box which retails at over £50. I pay a monthly subscription which is the most expensive one at around £10 plus p&p. At this stage. I didn’t want to commit to a full year just yet which, is a bit cheaper if you pay for the yearly subscription as opposed to monthly as that works out at £8 plus p&p. I wanted to get a feel for the brand and the products they put in the boxes before doing so.
The five products that I received in my box this month were the following:
- BeautyPro CBD Oil Infused Sheet Mask – £5.95
- BYBI Strawberry Booster- £12
- ModelCo Clear Brow Gel – £14
- Basic Beauty Tweezers – £15
- Context Micro-Derm Regenerator – £6.50
There was also a little treat from Nakd in the form of the Blueberry Muffin bar which was a nice additional perk to the box, along with a 75p voucher to use which I must remember to put in my purse.
My first impressions of this box are good, there is a nice mixture of brands here and I believe that I will get use out of everything contained in this box which is a different story to December. I am really keen to put the Strawberry Booster Oil to the test from ByBi as I have been seeing this brand crop up here and there. The tweezers seem ok, they’re not as good as my current ones and I am not sure if I would be willing to pay full price for them outside of this box, however, they will be good enough backups for when I inevitably misplace my current ones.
A new brow gel was also needed, I only have one other which is somewhat hard to believe considering the number of makeup products I have. That being said, my current one has seen better days so I was very happy to have a new one to test out, although I have to say that £14 for that size seems quite a lot to me? What do you think? I must admit that it has been a while since I did purchase a brow gel so maybe this is the norm now.
Overall, I am happy with this box. Let’s hope this continues into February.
